Forged Wheel Guide
A forged wheel is machined from a solid piece of aluminum that has been shaped under extreme pressure. Forging packs the metal's grain tighter and more uniformly than casting, so a forged wheel is stronger and lighter than a cast wheel of the same size. Forged vs cast vs flow-formed
| Cast | Molten aluminum poured into a mold. Least expensive, heaviest, least dense. |
| Flow-formed | A cast center with a barrel that's spun and stretched under pressure. Lighter and stronger than cast in the barrel only. |
| Forged | The whole wheel starts as a solid forged piece. Strongest and lightest for its size, and can be machined to any custom spec. |

Forged wheel constructions
| Monoblock (1-piece) | One continuous forging. Lightest and stiffest; nothing to maintain. |
| Duoblock | Forged mono-center in a two-piece build. Deep concave styling. |
| 2-Piece | Forged face joined to a barrel. Deeper lips and split finishes. |
| 3-Piece | Face plus two barrel halves. Widest fitment range; rebuildable. |

Fitment basics
- Bolt pattern: number of lugs and the circle they sit on (for example 5x120). Must match your hub.
- Center bore: the hole that centers the wheel on the hub. Built to your vehicle's exact size.
- Width and offset: decide where the wheel sits in the fender and how it clears suspension and brakes.
- Brake clearance: the spoke profile must clear your calipers, especially with big brake kits.
